1965 / Entry into the Coatings Business

By acquisition of the Glasurit producer M. Winkelmann AG, one of Europe’s largest coatings companies, BASF starts to produce ready coatings itself instead of providing coatings raw materials only. The company thus lays the foundation for today’s coatings division and subsequently complements the portfolio in this area of activity by further acquisitions. The Coatings Division of BASF develops, produces and markets a high-quality range of innovative automotive OEM coatings, automotive refinishes as well as decorative paints.
