Geismar
For 60 years, BASF’s Geismar site has been a world-class chemical manufacturer with 32 production units that make a wide range of chemicals that are used in hundreds of everyday consumer items With nearly 1,900 people at BASF Geismar is now among the largest employers in Louisiana and is the company’s largest manufacturing facility in North America. BASF Louisiana sites have announced new projects yielding more than $1 billion in new capital investment and more than 100 new, permanent jobs.

North Geismar
Located in Geismar, Louisiana in Ascension Parish, the North Geismar site facility sits on 15 acres of land and has two key production units: Geismar Systems Hub (GSH) and Dinitro-Toluene (DNT). DNT is the precursor chemical used in the production of the chemical Toluene Diisocyanate. This chemical is sent directly to the Geismar site for use in the production of Toluene Diisocyanate. Toluene Diisocyanate is essential in the production of furniture, bedding and automobile packaging. GSH is BASF’s newest polyurethane system hub in North America and creates a product that is used in items such as instrument panels in vehicles, tractor seats, memory foam pillows, air filter gaskets, and more.

Vidalia
As an integral part of the local community for 30 years, the Vidalia site is part of BASF’s Catalysts division that offers exceptional expertise in the development of technologies that protect the air we breathe, produce the fuels that power our world and ensure efficient production of a wide variety of chemicals, plastics and other products.
