BASF ranks 23 on list of DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, May 3, 2023 – For the eleventh consecutive year, BASF has been named one of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity by DiversityInc, ranking number 23 on the list despite a 23 percent year-over-year increase in companies applying for the important benchmark distinction. BASF was also recognized this year as a Top Company for Sponsorship, a Top Company for Mentoring, and a Top Company for Employee Resource Groups.

"Diversity, equity, and inclusion are human values, that cross borders and cultures, and they are essential to our success as a company operating in one of the most dynamic and diverse business markets here in North America," said Michael Heinz Chairman and CEO, BASF Corporation, and Member of the Board of Executive Directors, BASF SE. "Our goal is to create a working environment in which everyone feels connected, respected, and heard, and where they can be themselves."

Each year, DiversityInc recognizes the top companies for diversity, equity, and inclusion management, singling out those with strategies that focus on attracting, developing, and retaining great talent from all backgrounds, and leveraging the power of different perspectives to drive business growth.

“Our promise to our customers, industry, society, and each other is to deliver our best every day,” said Pat Rossman, Chief Diversity + Inclusion Officer, BASF North America. “Intentional focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion helps make BASF a great place to work, a more innovative partner for our customers, and a company that is better connected to and reflective of the many communities where we operate.”

Since 2001, The DiversityInc Top 50 survey has been the external benchmark and validator for large U.S. employers that model fairness in their talent strategy, workplace and supplier diversity practices and philanthropic engagement. The survey is a comprehensive, empirically data-driven analysis based on organization-submitted data in six key areas: Leadership Accountability, Human Capital Diversity Metrics, Talent Programs, Workplace Practices, Supplier Diversity, and Philanthropy.

“These rankings are based on employer-submitted data about their organizational policies, practices, and procedures, not on employee sentiment or scraped from sources that cannot be validated,” said Carolynn Johnson, CEO of DiversityInc. “With a required C-suite attestation that all data submitted is valid, these rankings also represent evidence-based, superior human capital outcomes, only achieved by data transparency and an unwavering commitment to workplace fairness for everyone.”
