BASF scientists honored by the Society of Cosmetic Chemists for research papers

TARRYTOWN, NY, December 21, 2021 – Two BASF scientists were recognized for their outstanding research by the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) at the 75th annual Scientific Meeting and Showcase.

Allison Garlet, Technical Account Manager for Personal Care Actives, BASF Care Chemicals, North America, received the Young Scientist Award for her research titled ‘Droplet-Based Microfluidic Screening Method to Select Ingredients Targeting Skin Microbial Communities.’ This award was given to the best paper by a young scientist under the age of 40. Several BASF scientists contributed to the research paper:

  • Dr. Sabrina Leoty-Okombi, R&D Project Leader, BASF Beauty Creations
  • Dr. Manon Gault, Head of Cutaneous Microbiology Laboratory, BASF Beauty Creations
  • Dr. Valerie Andre-Frei, R&D Scouting & Communication Expert, BASF Beauty Creations

Philip Ludwig, Technical Account Manager for Personal Care Actives, BASF Care Chemicals, North America, was awarded the Hans A. Schaeffer Award for his publication ‘A New 3D-Autologous IPSC-Derived Model to Mimic Hair Bulb Structure and Multiple Crosstalk.’ The paper was selected as the most innovative and was a collaborative effort by several scientists:

  • Oussama El Baraka, Head of Organoids and Hair Models, BASF Beauty Creations
  • Dr. Anja Ramme, Senior Scientist & Project Manager at TissUse GmbH
  • Dr. Beren Ataç, Senior Scientist at TissUse GmbH
  • Dr. Louis Danoux, Head of Cell Biology Laboratory of BASF Beauty Creations
  • Dr. Uwe Marx, Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of TissUse GmbH
  • Prof. Dr. Roland Lauster, Scientific Advisory Board Member, TissUse GmbH
