BASF launches new Credenz soybean varieties for 2020
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, August 27, 2019 – Focused on providing the right soybean variety to fit local grower needs, BASF is adding 43 new varieties to their 2020 Credenz® seed lineup. Credenz is now the 10th most planted soybean seed in the U.S., offering over 75 varieties nationally and over 45 varieties for Midwest growers.
“We developed so many new varieties this year to offer growers more agronomic solutions and multiple modes of action through advanced trait technology,” said Monty Malone, BASF Soybean Variety Development Lead. “Over half of the new varieties have the LibertyLink® GT27™ trait, which is the first commercial trait allowing the use of both Liberty® herbicide and glyphosate on the same acre at the same time to help prevent resistant weeds.”
Growers can utilize the LibertyLink GT27 trait platform and different agronomic solutions by planting the right Credenz variety for their field.
“Growers in the North should keep their eye on CZ 2040GTLL. It’s a top-end yield performer with Phytophthora Root Rot (PRR) tolerance along with a solid rating for Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS),” said Malone. “Throughout the rest of the Midwest, CZ 3309GTLL is very versatile and has proven to be our most broadly adapted variety to an array of environmental conditions.”
Below are the new 24 Midwest varieties available to growers for the 2020 season. Based on BASF trials, these varieties provide excellent agronomics and standability, high-performing yields and the ability to withstand local weed, pest and disease pressures:
- CZ 0590GTLL*: Good PRR field tolerance, taller variety for tougher soil types
- CZ 1280GTLL: Nice defensive package with good agronomics, consistent across soil types
- CZ 1470GTLL: Solid agronomics with good Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) tolerance, above average Iron Deficiency Chlorosis (IDC) with solid yield performance
- CZ 1660GTLL: Solid defensive package and broad acre fit, superior standability
- CZ 1850GTLL: Growthy plant type with improved standability, good performance over multiple states
- CZ 2040GTLL: Solid agronomics with good SDS, PRR tolerance, excellent performance in Relative Maturity (RM) zone
- CZ 2230GTLL: Good SDS and IDC tolerance, solid performance in Northern Iowa and West
- CZ 2360GTLL: Good IDC, SCN and PRR tolerance, broadly adapted
- CZ 2550GTLL: Excellent, stable performer across geographies, broad acre fit with nice plant structure
- CZ 2760GTLL: Taller plant type with good standability, good Brown Stem Rot (BSR) and PRR field tolerance
- CZ 2830GTLL: Excellent SCN and IDC tolerance, solid performance in Illinois and Iowa
- CZ 2910GTLL: Attractive, uniform plant with good standability, solid performance from East to West
- CZ 3099GTLL: Best IDC in early Maturity Group (MG) 3, strong performance and consistency
- CZ 3100GTLL: Taller, workhorse variety that moves East, good standability for heights
- CZ 3250GTLL: Best SDS tolerance in RM with good PRR, SCN, good standability for height
- CZ 3480GTLL: Top end, stable performer from East to West, complete disease package
- CZ 3540GTLL: Robust plant with excellent standability, consistent performer with SCN tolerance
- CZ 3660GTLL: Adaptability that moves East well, good standability with great yield performance
- CZ 3750GTLL: Strong ability to move South with top-end yield, good SCN tolerance
- CZ 3840GTLL: Tall, defensive variety with great standability, best PRR field tolerance in late group 3 RM
- CZ 3930GTLL: Combination of yield potential and stress tolerance, ability to move over multiple geographies
- CZ 4240GTLL: Excellent standability with Sulfonylurea Tolerant Soybeans (STS), Frogeye Leaf Spot (FELS) and stem canker resistance
- CZ 4410GTLL: Performance on all soil types, FELS, stem canker resistance with STS tolerance
- CZ 4610GTLL: Tall variety for heavy clays and less productive soils, FELS tolerance and stem canker resistance
