Working Mother recognizes BASF as one of the 2018 “100 Best Companies”

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, September 25, 2018 – For the first time, BASF earned a spot on Working Mother’s annual list of the “100 Best Companies”. With its ranking, the magazine highlights companies that lead in the areas of female career advancement, paid parental leave, childcare assistance, benefits and flextime.

“We have a responsibility to help our employees be there for the life-changing, momentous occasions – both celebratory and challenging – that being a parent brings to them,” said Ivory Harris, Vice President of North America Corporate HR Services and Total Rewards, BASF. “This recognition underscores our continued commitment to provide a holistic and compelling total offer of benefits, opportunities and rewards that help our employees create their own chemistry, do their best work and live their best lives.”

BASF was recognized for its paid parental leave program and benefits as well as the programs it offers to help employees create and nurture their families by providing the time and resources needed to be there for those who need them most – newborns and young children as well as aging parents. BASF offers paid parental leave for both new and adoptive parents for up to 16 weeks. The company also supports its employees by covering costs of adoption as well as fertility treatments. Additionally, there is a suite of benefits for working parents, including welcome gifts, back-up childcare services, college coaching and access to a wide range of specialized support.

“This year’s 100 Best Companies continue to strive for excellence when it comes to providing a work environment that is not only woman-friendly, but parent-friendly,” said Meredith Bodgas, editor-in-chief of Working Mother. “By offering flexible schedules, paid parental leave, post-leave phase-back periods, adoption and surrogacy financial assistance, and mentoring programs, these companies address working parents' and caregivers’ needs head-on and help them succeed at work and home.”

The 100 Best Companies application includes more than 400 questions on leave policies, workforce representation, benefits, childcare, advancement programs, flexibility policies and more. It surveys the availability and usage of these programs, as well as the accountability of the many managers who oversee them. For more than 30 years, Working Mother’s “100 Best Companies” award has set the bar for parent-friendly workplaces.
