BASF wins 3M Canada’s “Service Quality Supplier” award for reducing costs and carbon footprint

LONDON, ON, and MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 9, 2016 – 3M Canada demonstrated the importance of a strong customer-supplier relationship by presenting BASF with its “Service Quality Supplier” award for “Supplier Ideation.” As a longtime supplier of 3M Canada, BASF developed new ways to save costs for the company’s manufacturing plants and reduce its carbon footprint. Marcelo Lu, President of BASF Canada, accepted the award at a ceremony in London, Ontario.

“We highly value our relationship with 3M Canada and this award demonstrates our shared commitment to innovation, quality and sustainability. Together, we collaborate to provide solutions for home, office, industrial and retail use,” said Lu. “As BASF ships a substantial amount of raw materials to 3M Canada each week, the companies worked together to find ways to transport more product while reducing the number of deliveries.”

The new process helps 3M Canada save time and energy, significantly reducing the number of road trips and associated paperwork.

“In many cases, our suppliers are subject matter experts, and it is their insight, proactive approach, and willingness to communicate that makes achieving shared goals a reality,” said Liisa Sheldrick, communications leader, 3M Canada. “We want to acknowledge, recognize, and celebrate supplier excellence in Technology, Quality, Responsiveness, Delivery, Supplier Ideation, and Sustainability. As the winner of this year’s Supplier Ideation award, BASF has demonstrated true commitment as a partner to 3M and our values regarding Quality, Service, and Responsibility to the Environment.”

3M Canada’s annual “Service Quality Supplier” awards recognize suppliers who consistently exceed the company’s expectations, and deliver “best in-class” performance.  Suppliers must also share in 3M’s commitment to quality, service, and the responsibility to the environment, while driving considerable and often measurable value for 3M, and the customers it services.

BASF began supplying dispersions to 3M Canada over 25 years ago.
