Baton Rouge Area Chamber launches talent recruitment video promoting Capital Region in conjunction with BASF
In recent years, the Baton Rouge area has experienced a surge in growth and investment from companies such as BASF. The video was created to help attract and retain talented individuals to fill the new positions that are being created as part of this growth. The video is available to all BRAC investors, area businesses, and community leaders to promote and recruit employees to the Capital Region.
“Since the beginning of 2012, BRAC has assisted with the creation of 3,060 direct jobs and $7.8 billion in capital investment in the Baton Rouge Area, leading to a further need for high-quality talent. Having a tool in place to assist with the recruitment of the necessary talent is critical,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC. “BASF has proven to be a leader in the region’s growth and expansion by creating new jobs, investing millions of dollars, and working with BRAC to recruit and retain talented professionals.”
The video provides an overview of the region and demonstrates how newcomers to the Baton Rouge Area are welcomed and able to become a part of the community. The video can be found on the BRAC website at www.brac.org/welcome.
“BASF has invested more than $350 million since 2009 in Geismar and we are searching for talented people to help ensure our success,” said Tom Yura, Senior Vice President and Manager of the BASF site in Geismar, Louisiana. “Through our partnership with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and the creation of this video, we are marketing the region so that we help keep local talent here and attract others from across the world to see this area as a great place to live and work.”
BASF engineer and Southern University graduate John McGee is featured in the video representing the company’s 1,500 employees in the Baton Rouge region.
“I traveled the world and have worked in a few different states, but I chose to come back to this area because it has everything my family needs,” said McGee. “There is such a strong sense of community here and we’re happy to be a part of it.”
The video, produced by Launch Media, a Baton Rouge-based video production company, highlights schools and health care facilities, as well as dining, nightlife and recreation options. These are communicated with footage, personal testimonies of residents who live and work in the area, statistics and data, and are driven by a checklist of items often considered when relocating.
