BASF and Cognis to unveil ‘Newtrition™’ concepts for food and beverage innovators at IFT
FLORHAM PARK, NJ, June 12, 2011 – BASF and Cognis, now part of BASF, will together unveil their latest Newtrition™ concepts and finished products at the 2011 IFT Annual Food Expo in New Orleans at booth 5829. The newly formed BASF Human Nutrition Group combines the two complementary nutrition businesses, offering a complete line of natural and nature-identical, health-enhancing ingredients for a broad range of foods and beverages.
Cognis’ Newtrition “Eat.Feel.Live” campaign is being continued to give customers a “healthy competitive edge” in developing creative and forward-looking concepts and formulations.
“By combining our products, technical skills and marketing expertise, we are in an even better position to help our customers innovate for the future,” said Samy Jandali, Vice President Business Management, Nutrition & Health NA, BASF Corporation. “We invite IFT attendees to learn firsthand how we can work together to address the demands of a growing population with healthy foods and beverages that taste good and fulfil the highest safety, regulatory and sustainability standards.”
He explained that as an example of the company’s ongoing commitment to science and education, it is proud to sponsor the Food Health & Nutrition track of the IFT Scientific Program. More than 50 presentations within the track will include hot topics in applied nutrition research, new science, and market trends. “We are delighted to support IFT in offering topics of the greatest importance to food professionals so together we can discover and exchange new ideas that contribute to well-being,” Mr. Jandali pointed out.
Experts from Cognis/ BASF will present two special sessions:
- “Tracing the journey to producing more sustainable goods” by Cristian Barcan, will be Sunday, June 12 from 7:35 to 7:50 am in room 396.
- “Natural-sourced functional ingredients and product development for pet health” by Dr. David Cai, will be Tuesday, June 14 from 2:10 to 2:35 am in room 287.
Back at booth 5829, product and marketing managers will be on-hand to answer questions regarding the new, combined portfolio that includes:
vitamins A,B, D, E and K, beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene, omega-3s, Heart Choice® phytosterols, Tonalin® CLA, and mixed tocopherols.
Many of these ingredients are featured in delicious prototypes IFT attendees are invited to sample such as:
