BASF Korea launches campaign to reduce disposable cups at company sites and offices
Seoul, Korea – November 12, 2018 – Under the name “Start Small to Create a Clean Environment”, BASF has launched a campaign in its Seoul office and Yeosu site to reduce the use of disposable cups among employees.
Following the government’s recent ban on disposable plastic cups in cafes, BASF has provided personal, reusable cups to employees. All paper cups have been removed from lounges at the BASF office in Seoul, while plastic cups at the company’s site in Yeosu were replaced with stainless steel cups. The campaign will be rolled out to other BASF Korea sites this year and next.
“Taking small steps to reduce waste as individuals will help remind us to maintain our larger commitment towards environmental protection as a company,” said Un-sin Lee, Yeosu site director, “This is in line with our corporate purpose: we create chemistry for a sustainable future.”
BASF implements a wide variety of waste management solutions at its production sites to reduce emissions of pollutants and maximize energy efficiency. The company maintains global internal standards for environmental, social and financial sustainability that are stricter than legally-required standards. At the same time, BASF has undertaken measures to improve sustainability at its offices around the world, for example in energy and waste management, and in improved working environments.
