Αλλάζουμε για το κλίμα

Στόχος μας είναι να επιτύχουμε καθαρές μηδενικές εκπομπές αερίων του θερμοκηπίου μέχρι το 2050. Πώς όμως είναι αυτό εφικτό για μια εταιρεία που ανήκει στον ενεργοβόρο χημικό κλάδο; Είναι σίγουρα πολύ φιλόδοξο. Αλλά είμαστε πεπεισμένοι ότι μπορούμε να τα καταφέρουμε αφού, επιδιώκοντας αυτή την αλλαγή, θα αναζητήσουμε λύσεις παντού και θα αμφισβητήσουμε τα πάντα προκειμένου να ανακαλύψουμε την έμπνευση σε κάθε απίθανο σημείο.

Ευνοϊκός άνεμος

Για να προστατέψουμε το κλίμα, πρέπει να επανεξετάσουμε το πως καταναλώνουμε ενέργεια στις εγκαταστάσεις μας. Γι’ αυτό επενδύουμε στο μεγαλύτερο μη επιδοτούμενο υπεράκτιο αιολικό πάρκο του κόσμου. Η πρώτη ανανεώσιμη μορφή ενέργειας παραδόθηκε στο δίκτυο το 2022, και το πάρκο αναμένεται να είναι πλήρως λειτουργικό μέχρι το καλοκαίρι του 2023.

Πολλοί πιστεύουν πως όλα τα αυτοκίνητα του μέλλοντος θα είναι ηλεκτρικά. Εμείς όμως προχωρούμε ένα βήμα πιο πέρα – ανακυκλώνουμε τα υλικά των μπαταριών των ηλεκτρικών οχημάτων. Θέλουμε να έτσι να κλείσουμε τον κύκλο στην αλυσίδα της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης των ηλεκτρικών οχημάτων.

Most of our direct CO₂ emissions occur in the production of base chemicals. That’s why we’re fundamentally rethinking the way we produce and are pushing ahead with the switch to CO₂-free or low-CO₂ processes. We plan to make the first large plants almost climate neutral by 2030.

Carbon Management at BASF

As chemistry requires energy, reducing our emissions isn’t just about innovative technologies. It’s also about sourcing renewable energy in huge quantities. That’s why we’re becoming our own renewable energy producer. We’ve also signed several long-term power purchase agreements for renewable energy.

We know that all kinds of people want to buy products with a significantly reduced or even net-zero carbon footprint. That’s why so many of our products are created to help other companies and their customers reach their climate targets.

We know that we need to consider sustainability beyond our production. So, to contribute to the circular economy, we’re rethinking our raw materials. This includes our efforts to make sure value materials are used more than once, allowing us to produce in a more environmentally friendly way and save waste at the same time.

Driving circular economy at BASF

Έχουμε ένα αποδεδειγμένο ιστορικό στη μείωση των παγκόσμιων εκπομπών μας σε CO₂. Τις έχουμε μειώσει σχεδόν στο μισό σε σύγκριση με το 1990 και θέλουμε μέχρι το 2030 να τις έχουμε μειώσει κατά ένα τέταρτο σε σύγκριση με το 2018. Στοχεύουμε σε μηδενικές εκπομπές CO₂¹ μέχρι το 2050, σύμφωνα με τις επιταγές της Συμφωνίας του Παρισιού για την κλιματική αλλαγή.

¹ Ο στόχος περιλαμβάνει τις εκπομπές του Πεδίου εφαρμογής 1 και του Πεδίου εφαρμογής 2. Τα υπόλοιπα αέρια θερμοκηπίου μετατρέπονται σε ισοδύναμα του CO₂, σύμφωνα με το Πρωτόκολλο για τα Αέρια Θερμοκηπίου.
