Michael Heinz was born in 1964 in Mannheim, Germany. He studied Business Administration at the College of Applied Sciences in Ludwigshafen, Germany. In 2000, he received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Michael Heinz joined BASF in 1984 as a Product Manager in Germany. This was followed by various positions abroad. Starting in 1999, he was responsible for BASF’s business in Mexico and Central America. He headed BASF’s global crop protection business and was thereafter responsible for the integration of acquired companies. Michael Heinz has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors since 2011. He was Industrial Relations Director and Site Director for the Ludwigshafen site in Germany. Since 2021, he has been Chairman of BASF Corporation, located in Florham Park, New Jersey.

Michael Heinz is responsible for the divisions Agricultural Solutions; Nutrition & Health; Care Chemicals; Region North America; Region South America.
