Competence in handling materials
BASF has had its own materials and solids laboratory since 1913. From corrosion testing to component testing: our employees are very familiar with materials and alloys. Close cooperation with the Additive Manufacturing Center ensures that high standards of quality are guaranteed. This starts with the material selection, the characterization and measurement of powder materials, and ends with the testing of the finished component. BASF also has a high level of experience in the area of occupational safety when handling powder materials and has established a comprehensive safety concept for the area of additive manufacturing.
On our printers, we manufacture components from the following materials:
- Stainless steel: 1.4404 (V4A)
- Corrosion-resistant nickel-based alloys (currently in development): 2.4610 (C4), 2.4605 (Alloy 59)
- High-strength steel: 1.6580 (30CrNiMo8)
- Special alloys: Please talk to us!
