BASF Canada offers Kids' Lab Experience at the ROM to classrooms in the GTA

BASF and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) are partnering to offer schools in the greater Toronto area (GTA) the opportunity to participate in an exclusive BASF Kids’ Lab at ROM!

In honour of National Chemistry Week, taking place the week of October 20, 2024, BASF is excited to invite select classrooms to visit ROM between October 22 and 24 for an engaging and educational school visit.

We want to hear from you! Nominate a school to help us decide which classrooms from the GTA will visit ROM and receive:

A full-day field trip for two classrooms from grades 3 and 4
Access to a BASF Kids' Lab experiment, "The Rainbow Connection." BASF’s Kids’ Lab is the signature STEAM program for youth ages 4 to 12, designed to provide a fun, hands-on learning environment that connects chemistry and the world around us. “The Rainbow Connection” Lab teaches kids about a simple chromatographic process that separates the components of colourful felt-tip pens using white chalk and water
A 30-minute extended learning experience with a tour guide and self-guided time to discover the museum and its exhibitions

*Please note schools will be responsible for their own travel.

Nominations will be accepted between May 28 at 12:00 A.M. and July 31 at 11:59 P.M. Only 1 nomination will be accepted per person.

The BASF Kids' Lab Nomination Program will run according to the process rules and regulations available here.

Who can participate in the BASF Kids' Lab Nomination?

BASF and ROM employees and partners, as well as museum visitors and educators in the GTA.

What classrooms qualify for nomination?

To best fit school curriculums, 3^rd and 4^th grade classrooms should be nominated
Nominated classrooms must be in a school located in the GTA
Special consideration will be taken for underrepresented schools and those with a diverse population

How will the winning schools be selected?

A panel of judges will judge each eligible classroom that received at least one nomination. Please visit the Nomination Rules and Regulations Form for more details.

When will the schools be selected?

Judges will review the nominations from August 1 to 31.

Selected classrooms will be contacted via email between September 9 to 30.
