Social Engagement at BASF Canada

Our commitment to a sustainable future includes creating chemistry in the communities in which we work and live. Through our corporate charitable donations and community relations we are committed to supporting solutions for today’s social challenges.

Our Giving Pillars

At BASF Canada, we focus on making an impact across Canada in three key areas.

Social Engagment Pillars: STEAM Education, Driving Sustainability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

STEAM Education

The landscape of learning is continuously evolving, which is why BASF recently added arts as a core element of its social engagement strategy, now focused on inspiring students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).

Developed by BASF, Kids’ Lab is one of the signature STEAM programs for youth, designed to provide a fun, hands-on learning environment that connects chemistry and the world around us. In 2023, BASF partnered with ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) to deliver BASF Kids’ Lab to young museum visitors and students participating in the museum school visit program.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion have long been fundamental to the work at BASF. To enable sustained and meaningful progress, BASF Canada released a strategy to reach its aspirational state of a culture ingrained with diversity, equity, and inclusion by 2025.

Since 2016, BASF has supported Indigenous Canadian students through its Indpsire partnership, providing more than 20 students with financial support for their post-secondary education. In 2022 and 2023, BASF participated in Indspire’s annual Soaring event to meet with Indigenous high school students and Indspire’s Awards to recognize and celebrate Indigenous professionals and youth for their outstanding achievements.

Sustainability

BASF wants to contribute to a world that provides a viable future with enhanced quality of life for everyone. BASF works with key partnerships to deepen the positive impacts on environmental and social issues important to local communities.

In 2022, BASF partnered with Tree Canada, joining as a bronze sponsor. As part of the partnership, employees came together to plant more than 2,400 trees across the country.
