BASF donates $50,000 to Lake Jackson for new community dog park

Donation will go toward benches, walking paths, shade pavilions and more

FREEPORT, TX, February 5, 2018 – BASF in Freeport, Texas, will be the lead sponsor of the City of Lake Jackson’s new community dog park by funding $50,000 of the construction. The three-acre “BASF Dog Park” will be located behind the Lake Jackson Recreation Center and be open to all dogs and their owners in the greater Brazosport area.

The fully-fenced space will have areas designated for large and small dogs, 14 benches, walking paths, shade pavilions, and splash pads – all among large shade trees. Dogs will be able to enjoy their own drinking fountains and a wash station. Construction of the BASF Dog Park is scheduled to begin in October 2018, and it is expected to open in the Spring of 2019.

“The community has shown significant support for this park and we anticipate it being one of our most used facilities upon opening,” said Jeremy Bubnick, Director of Lake Jackson Parks and Recreation. “It will be a high-quality park that I am excited to see become a reality thanks to BASF.”

Cindy Suggs, Manager of Community and Government Affairs at BASF in Freeport, and Ron Barksdale, Freeport Site Leadership Team member, presented a “symbolic” check to the Lake Jackson City Council during its February 5 meeting, where the official sponsorship and naming of the dog park was approved.

“BASF understands the importance of the relationships we have with the local communities surrounding our facilities,” said Suggs. “Our employees call these communities home and we are committed to making them better places to live.”
