BASF names Paul Whittleston as Vice President for Automotive Refinish & Industrial Coatings business

SOUTHFIELD, MI, December 6, 2012 – BASF announced today that it has named Paul Whittleston as Vice President for Automotive Refinish Coatings in North America, effective January 1, 2013. In his new role, Whittleston will be based in Southfield, Michigan.   

Prior to this appointment, Whittleston served as Staff to the President of Market and Business Development, North America. His career started in 1993 with Ciba Specialty Chemicals in the United Kingdom. He has also worked for Ciba’s Water & Paper Treatment Segment in Asia, Ciba’s Specialty Chemicals business in Tarrytown, New York, and as Global Head of Marketing and New Business Development for Ciba’s Process & Lubricant Additives business. Following the integration of Ciba into BASF in 2009, heserved as Business Managerfor BASF’s Fuels & Refinery Chemicals in North America.

“Whittleston brings a wealth of experience to the position, including key roles in laboratory, commercial, business leadership and global marketing positions,” said Juan Carlos Ordonez, Senior Vice President Coatings Solutions North America. “We look forward to leveraging this expertise in the area of automotive refinish coatings.”

Whittleston holds an MBA from the University of Bradford, Yorkshire, United Kingdom; an MSc in Environmental Analytical Science from Sheffield Hallam University, Yorkshire, United Kingdom; and a BSc in Chemistry with Analytical Chemistry from the University of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
