Our research farm turns one!

It’s been one year since we opened the gates at our research farm in Tamworth, New South Wales. And what a cropping success it has been!

The farm’s mission: to trial solutions, developed by our global experts, in typical Australian conditions, and help bring them to the market – and Aussie farmers’ hands – quicker. So how have they fared? Well, over the past 12 months, researchers at the farm have conducted more than 70 individual trials.

Research at the farm has already played a big role in the development of two new products set to bring a range of benefits to the bottom line for Aussie farmers. Systiva® is helping to reduce disease in barley (one of the key ingredients of beer) and Butisan®, which was launched this week, is a new herbicide to help stop weeds becoming resistant to herbicide.

Gavin Jackson, Head of Agriculture at BASF Australia and New Zealand, said work at the farm is dedicated to helping growers in the future.“We’ve been hard at work the research farm over the past year. We want to enable Australian growers to more readily access cutting edge solutions across a range of economically valuable crops, to meet their future challenges.

“It’s an integral part of BASF’s long-term ability to drive productivity benefits in Australian agriculture and build local knowledge in collaboration with key distributors, grower groups, technical experts and government organisations,” he said.

The AgSolution farm was the seventh of its kind to be established by BASF in the Asia Pacific region, and it was officially launched by the Honourable Barnaby Joyce. Find out more here.
