Supporting Clean Energy Exploration: Science Gallery Empowers Students
Science Gallery Melbourne's STEM Centre of Excellence recently hosted the Merri-bek Interschool Innovators Program, where high school students tackled the challenges of renewable energy and clean technology. 48 students from Coburg High School, Glenroy Secondary College, John Fawkner College, and Pascoe Vale Girls worked together to find innovative solutions.
Throughout the year-long program, students were guided in concept ideation, marketing strategies, and presentation skills. The culmination of their hard work was a Showcase event on 15 November, where they had the opportunity to pitch their ideas to an audience consisting of teachers, fellow students, industry partners, including BASF, and State Member of Parliament for Broadmeadows MP, Kathleen Matthew-Ward.
The event kicked off with Sushant Pandey, BASF's National Business Manager - NAS Storage, providing insights into how companies like BASF are addressing clean energy challenges. The students then took the stage, delivering captivating and inspiring presentations that left the audience intrigued about their visions for the future.
“It was genuinely inspirational to hear the students pitch their clean energy ideas,” said Emma Rijs, Corporate Affairs Manager. “We were pretty blown away by their creativity and really enjoyed the presentations. The event was another example of the fantastic work Science Gallery do in supporting the next generation of scientists.”
By engaging students in real-world clean energy challenges, Science Gallery Melbourne's program plays a vital role in educating and inspiring a new generation of environmentally conscious individuals.
