Corporate Health Management

In its corporate strategy, BASF is committed to acting responsibly as a reliable part of society. BASF's economic success is closely linked to the health and well-being of employees, neighbors, customers and consumers worldwide. Corporate Health Management is responsible for occupational health and emergency medical treatment for BASF employees at the Ludwigshafen site, as well as global coordination and auditing of occupational health activities at BASF Group companies.

Sustainable health management at BASF

We offer a comprehensive spectrum of medical services for our employees, ranging from preventive occupational medicine to emergency treatment and health promotion. BASF's occupational health management is established for all group companies worldwide and serves to strengthen and promote the health and performance of employees. Standards for occupational medicine are defined in a corporate requirement that is binding for all group companies and are implemented by a global team of experts. These standards are evaluated regularly in the framework of occupational health audits. We created the Health Performance Index (HPI) as an extended indicator for global health management. Our actions are an integral part of BASF's Environmental Protection, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ) Management System.

Medical confidentiality – a continuous basis of our actions

As with physicians in private practice or in hospitals, all employees of the Corporate Health Management department and medical personnel worldwide abide by medical confidentiality regulations. BASF's occupational physicians do not disclose personal medical data, information about treatments nor the content of patient-doctor consultations to the employer.
