UN Global Compact

BASF actively supports the UN Global Compact, a voluntary initiative based on company commitments to implement universal sustainability principles and to advance UN goals such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among other activities, we participate in UN Global Compact’s Action Platforms convening business, leading experts, civil society, Governments and UN partners to solve interconnected issues, explore new market opportunities and innovate around the SDGs. BASF is member of more than 15 local Global Compact Networks around the world.

BASF was a founding member of the UN Global Compact decades ago. Since then, we have been committed to living and supporting the 10 principles. We also support the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN. They provide guidance for research, product development and responsible corporate action. We are convinced that innovation and sustainability are inextricably linked and that partnerships point the way to the future. That is why we will continue to work with partners in society at a global and local level for a sustainable future - the UN Global Compact is an important platform for this.

About the UN Global Compact

Launched in 2000, the United Nations Global Compact is a call to companies around the world to align their strategies and operations with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of broader UN goals. Through the development, implementation, and disclosure of responsible corporate policies and practices, business can help ensure that markets advance in ways that benefit economies and societies everywhere. The Global Compact is not a regulatory body, but a voluntary leadership platform for dialog and learning. With more than 10,000 signatories in 160 countries, it is the world's largest corporate responsibility initiative. BASF was one of the founding members of UN Global Compact.
