Anup Kothari

Anup Kothari is Chairman of BASF Corporation in North America, a role he assumed in January 2025. He has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE since 2024. In this role, he is responsible for the divisions Dispersions & Resins, Performance Chemicals, ECMS, Battery Materials and Coatings, with regional responsibility for North America.

Anup Kothari joined the company in 1999 as part of BASF Corporation's MBA Professional Development Program. In addition to his many years of experience in the United States, his BASF journey led him to various leadership positions in Germany and China. He held different business roles in Care Chemicals, Catalysts, and took over as President of the Performance Chemicals division in 2017. From 2021, he led the Nutrition & Health division.

Born in India, Anup earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky. He also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
