Our portfolio is organized into six segments: Chemicals, Materials, Industrial Solutions, Surface Technologies, Nutrition & Care and Agricultural Solutions. BASF generated sales of around €63 billion in 2018.

BASF in Southern Africa

50 years ago, BASF Southern Africa was founded, serving as a hub into the entire Sub-Saharan Africa Region. The BASF group in South Africa consists of five companies with locations in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and a dispersions production plant in Durban.

In 2013 BASF Agricultural specialties (formerly Becker-Underwood in Durban) became part of the South African business profile. In 2015 BASF Zambia Ltd, a sales organization with focus on agricultural and mining business was inaugurated in Lusaka, Zambia.

In 2016, Chemetall South Africa was added to the local portfolio. The company has a production site in Boksburg and various offices and warehouses in Port Elizabeth, East London and Durban.
