Master Builders Solutions® from BASF to demonstrate new technology at Totally Concrete Expo 2016

Johannesburg, South Africa: 10 May 2015.  BASF will once again be demonstrating its latest innovative products at the 2016 Totally Concrete Expo to be held at Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg from 10 to 11 May. The Totally Concrete Expo is an educational and networking platform for insights on the latest developments and technologies associated with the construction and building industry aimed at ready mix and pre-cast concrete producers, specifiers, specialist contractors, engineers and architects.

The portfolio of products and services marketed under the Master Builders Solutions® brand embraces chemical solutions for new construction, maintenance, repair and renovation of buildings as well as infrastructure: concrete admixtures, cement additives, solutions for mining and tunneling, waterproofing, sealants, concrete repair & protection, performance grouts, and high-performance flooring products.

According to newly appointed Managing Director of BASF Construction Chemicals South Africa, Angus Peruzzo, the Master Builders Solutions®   brand strengthens BASF’s industry orientation: “It stands for BASF’s commitment to provide the whole construction industry with tailored products and solutions allowing us to concentrate our ability to collaborate across technologies and functions on a global scale,” he said. “Our team is focused on safety, solving customer problems and increasing productivity. Let us know how we can assist your business growth today.”

“Over the last few years, we successfully introduced the Master Builders Solutions brand, launched a range of advanced solutions for new construction, maintenance, repair and renovation of buildings and infrastructure, and upgraded our production network for our customers in the local construction industry”, Peruzzo added.

Totally Concrete Expo 2016 will see BASF showcasing a variety of its products during an interactive demonstration taking place at 13:30 on the 10th and 13:00 on the 11th of May at the Outdoor Concrete Area.  The focus will be on industry challenges and BASF’s product solution range including:

•           MasterSeal® 345: an EVA polymer based sprayable membrane for the waterproofing of underground concrete structures. It is spray applied in a sandwich structure between two sprayed / cast concrete layers, creating a double bonded composite shell lining. It is flexible and has a very high bond strength property on both sides of the membrane.

•           MasterGlenium® 7920 / Fast wet-out Polymers: ready-to-use high-range water-reducing admixture based on next generation polycarboxylate technology. It incorporates state-of-the art molecular engineering to provide fast wet-out of powder materials. It is effective in improving the day-to-day production efficiency of a concrete plant by rapidly dispersing powder materials in concrete mixtures, thereby minimizing mixing time. It is used for concrete requiring high-early compressive strength development; concrete with low w/c ratios and/or high powder contents; the production of SCC and for Green Sense® Concrete.

•           MasterFlow® 4800: one-component cement based, metallic aggregate reinforce, non-shrink, ultra-high strength grout. It has very high early and final strengths and typically used for industrial turbines, generators, compressors, mills, rail tracks, crane rails, and machinery and equipment requiring high strength maximum bearing.

•           MasterSeal® M811: a solvent-free, two-component polyurea hybrid, pigmented, elastic spray applied waterproofing membrane with a short curing time. It is high reactive and needs to be applied by special, two component spray equipment. Used for car park decks, podium decks, roofing, and basement waterproofing.

•           Ucrete® HF60RT: a 6mm heavy duty polyurethane floor finish, flow applied based upon the unique Ucrete HD polyurethane resin system. It is designed for rapid installation, making it ideally suited for large fast track new build and refurbishment projects.

BASF, through its Construction Chemicals division, has played a significant role in many of the recent milestone achievements in infrastructural development projects in Southern Africa.  The construction of the stadiums for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Gautrain rapid rail system, the De Hoop Dam in Limpopo Province, the Ingula hydro-electric water scheme in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands and the construction of wind turbine farms are but a few of the projects that BASF has been involved in by supplying specialist solutions to a variety of construction industry partners.  “We are proud to be part of this progress by offering solutions which are based on our global know-how and provided by our local experts,” said Peruzzo.
