BASF launches multifunctional diesel fuel system cleaner KEROPUR® D for vehicle owners in Korea

  • Premium fuel additive that helps remove and prevent performance-limiting engine deposits
  • Improved ignition and smoother combustion process resulting in reduced fuel consumption and longer engine life

December 14 – Since November, BASF is offering its diesel fuel system cleaner KEROPUR® D directly to drivers in Korea. The established high-performance multifunctional diesel fuel additive not only helps to keep engines clean and achieve optimal performance but also contributes to sustainability.

Over time, deposits tend to build up in any combustion engine. As deposits accumulate, this gradually brings a loss in power, fuel economy and drivability – compared to the clean condition of the vehicle. With its ‘cleaning-effects’ KEROPUR® D removes already existing engine deposits and prevents the formation of new deposits inside of the engine. Beyond that, KEROPUR® D boosts the cetane number of the diesel fuel to ensure an improved ignition and smoother combustion process. The product is suitable for use in all common diesel fuel including those with various biodiesel content. Diesel vehicle owners can benefit from an improved fuel economy as well as prolonged engine life and optimized driving behavior.

“Sustainability is deeply rooted in BASF's company purpose. Our solutions therefore have a clear purpose and, besides delivering superior technical performance, contribute to sustainable development, as for example, helping to reduce emissions by improving fuel economy,” said Matthias Lang, Vice President, of BASF’s Fuel & Lubricant Solutions in Asia Pacific.

Performance benefits of KEROPUR® D have been proven in a wide range of engine and on-road tests conducted by BASF’s Competence Center Fuels & Lubes based Ludwigshafen, Germany. BASF has been a leading supplier of fuel performance packages worldwide, having produced fuel additives since the 1920s. With regional test centers in Europe, Asia and the US, BASF continuously performs a broad range of tests aimed at both conventional as well as cutting-edge engine technologies.

KEROPUR® D has been marketed in the European market for various years. The introduction of BASF’s aftermarket additive for gasoline fuels, KEROPUR® G to the Korean market is expected to follow during the first quarter of next year.
