The designfabrik® in Ludwigshafen

The designfabrik® is BASF's creative source of inspiration for design orientated industries. The designers are building a bridge between creative visions and the possibilities of plastic. They support our customers at the early stages of the product development with materials, sample pieces and various services and also function as creative hub in the global BASF network. The designfabrik® was founded in 2006 in the middle of the chemical plant in Ludwigshafen. Today it represents a divers portfolio with a wide range of BASF products. This extensive lineup is the key strength of the designfabrik®: It offers designers from various industries the opportunity to broaden their horizons and to adapt solutions from other areas of work.

designfabrik® offers costumers an inspiring selection of material samples and application examples such as the office swivel chair MOVYis3 (center of picture), which was developed in collaboration with the furniture manufacturer Interstuhl. This was one of the first serially produced items made of the new Ultramid SI grades (SI: surface improved). They combine technical properties that are typical of polyamides with a high-quality surface appearance.
