Societal Engagement
As part of our commitment on investing for the future generations in Malaysia, BASF supports United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal 4 "Quality Education" and Goal 11 "Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable". We collaborate with various stakeholders including non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to give back to the society in which we operate in.
BASF donates critical medical equipment to COVID-19 hospitals
As part of its commitment to support the community as well as front-line workers, BASF collaborated with Ministry of Health and supported 12 hospitals in Malaysia by donating need-of-the-hour medical equipment for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Adopt A School
BASF collaborated with Green Growth Asia Foundation to organize the ‘Climate Ready Classrooms’ program. Secondary school students are empowered via a training course that uses interactive activities and real-life examples to improve awareness and understanding of climate protection.
Improving safety awareness at school
Supported by the Southern Region HSE Practitioner Group, BASF volunteers from Pasir Gudang site organized the 'Occupational Safety at School' event at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Alam 2, Masai, Johor. The event aimed to support the school in creating a safer learning space through safety related activities.
Distributing Care Packs to the less fortunate
BASF raised donations for the less fortunate in the community during the Covid-19 outbreak. Management representatives from the BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre distributed the care packs, consisted of rice, cooking oil, flour, eggs, and others, to 200 affected families.
BASF donates hand sanitizers to local hospital
As part of efforts to support the local community close to its Asia Pacific service centre, BASF donated hand sanitizers to University of Malaysia Medical Centre (UMMC) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
BASF in Malaysia coming together for the environment
In collaboration with Mercy Malaysia and Malaysia Nature Society, hundreds of employees of BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, BASF Asia Pacific Service Centre and BASF PETRONAS Chemicals came together to plant mangrove trees, clean the beach and organize a free market for the underprivileged community in Kuantan, Pahang. BASF Kids’ Lab
The BASF Kids’ Lab program is an interactive, fun and free chemistry education program designed for kids aged 7 to 12 years to discover the world of chemistry through simple and safe hands-on experiments. First held in Malaysia in 2006, the program has reached more than 10,000 Malaysia primary students. Some of the venues where we held Kids’ Lab were the Monash University Malaysia in Sunway and the National Science Centre in Bukit Damansara.
