BASF’s innovative back tile adhesive solution
Acronal® 7808 - One easy step to zip tiles tight
BASF’s Acronal® 7808 is used as a back tile adhesive to securely install tiles with enhanced adhesion and impact resistance. Compared to the traditional thick-bed method, it reduces the usage of cementitious tile adhesive which shortens installation time and cost.
Although large porcelain tiles are growing popular due to their nice looks, they come with several shortcomings. Large porcelain tiles are less water absorbent and much heavier than traditional tiles, presenting a higher risk of detachment. Additionally, the installation cost is higher and thus requires a very secure installation from the beginning.
The new back tile adhesive solutions are fast and easy. By applying Acronal® 7808 as back tile adhesive between the tile and cementitious tile adhesive, it effectively promotes adhesion for secure installation espically under water immersed and heated confitions, where traditional thick-bed method has a challenge.
How it works?
Polymers are the key to forming strong adhesion between different substrates. Adhesion depends on the amount of polymers between the substrate and tile. Applying Acronal® 7808 on the back of tile increases the polymer concentration at the bonding surface between the tile and cementitious tile adhesive to ensure secure installation.
Acronal® 7808 is easy to use and well performed under various critical environments
Acronal® 7808 realizes high impact resistance
While using BASF’s Acronal® 7808 as a back tile adhesive, it shows outstanding resistance to hammering. Only small pieces are coming off at a time and it took a very long time to finish the whole tile. The results demonstrate an increase in impact and vibration resistance which leads to tile installations that are more tightly fastened and reliable.
