BASF Kids' Lab in Asia Pacific

Do you know kids’ most popular reaction to chemistry? It’s “Wow!” - one simple word with great scientific experience behind it. We’ve heard it many times, in more than 30 countries, at BASF Kids’ Lab. For one day, kids become scientists. They experiment in a playful manner and learn why and how the world’s marvels work. Because we believe that one day these kids will wow us in return.

When science can be seen as a foundation of wonder, it’s because at BASF, we create chemistry.

BASF established Kids’ Lab in Germany in 1997 with an aim to nurture kids' interest in chemistry. It is a free interactive education program for kids aged 6-12 years to discover the world of chemistry through safe and fun experiments.

The program has been brought to more than 30 countries across the globe, including U.K., U.S., Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea and Singapore. In Asia Pacific, more than 300,000 kids have participated since 2002.

Run in partnership with local universities, BASF employees volunteer to inspire the next generation of scientists.

China | Since 2002

Joined Sesame Street to bring The Magic Map show to the Shanghai World EXPO 2010.

Hong Kong | Since 2005

Partners with renowned universities who share our vision to drive STEM education.

India | Since 2003

Traveled for eight months with the Science Express Train to visit children in 56 cities across India in 2008.

Indonesia | Since 2005

In the ﬁrst year of its inception, Kids’ Lab received the MURI (Indonesia World-Records Museum) Award for having the largest number of kids in a single event.

Japan | Since 2003

After the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, BASF volunteers brought lab sessions to cheer up the kids in areas affected.

Korea | Since 2003

Held at a school for deaf children in Ulsan under BASF employees' mentoring.

Malaysia | Since 2006

Partnered with prominent universities to stimulate the interest of our future generation in chemistry.

New Zealand | Since 2007

Kids’ Lab is brought to schools throughout Auckland, ensuring kids from various socio-economic groups have access to the program.

Philippines | Since 2005

In 2018, Kids’ Lab was held for the first time at The Mind Museum, the leading science museum in the Philippines, highlighting the program’s support for quality education

Singapore | Since 2003

Held on the World Water Day to engage children to learn the properties of water and sustainable water management.

Taiwan | Since 2007

More than 10,000 children have joined so far; past participants were inspired to return as young volunteers.

Thailand | Since 2004

Children from areas affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami participated in Kids’ Lab at the Royal Thab Lamu School which was damaged by the tsunami and rebuilt with BASF funding.

The BASF Kids’ Lab program is an interactive, fun and free chemistry education program designed for kids aged 6 to 12 years to discover the world of chemistry through simple and safe hands-on experiments. The program has been brought to more than 30 countries across the globe, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Singapore, India and Japan. It was established in 1997 in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The program has been introduced to Thailand since 2004 and more than 10,000 children from primary schools across Thailand have experienced hands-on experiments at BASF Kids’ Lab.

Vietnam | Since 2011

Kids’ Lab supports future generation in Vietnam’s remote areas with school renovation and painting, scholarship and donation of hygiene facilities. Around 5000 young people have been benefited to date.
