Münster is the home of the world's largest integrated paint manufacturing site. It is the headquarter of BASF's Coatings division.

Our Portfolio

We develop, produce and market innovative automotive OEM, automotive refinish coatings and decorative paints as well as applied surface treatments for metal, plastic and glass substrates in a wide range of industries worldwide. The portfolio is completed by the “Innovation beyond paint” program, which endeavors to develop new markets and business models. Automotive OEM Coatings

Four layers, no thicker than a human hair. This is the typical paint system on a car body. For each layer, whether e-coat, primer, basecoat or clearcoat, we offer innovative products and technologies.

Automotive Refinish

The over 200,000 colors and 600,000 color mixing formulas in our color database enable exact color matching for refinishing paint damage. But our refinish products can do much more. They allow you to eliminate both tiny scratches and large-scale damage quickly and without any visible traces, whether on new, used or classic cars.

Decorative Paints

Suvinil is the best-known and one of the most popular brands in Brazil. Its product range includes a variety of paints for interior and exterior applications that also feature intelligent properties such as protection from heat or humidity.

With over 70 locations, we are where our customers are.

North America

In North America, we're represented not only in the United States, the country of the world's largest carmakers. In addition to the plants there, we also produce at sites in Canada and Mexico.

South America

Brazil is the country of our decorative paints of the Suvinil brand. Additionally, automotive OEM and refinish coatings as well as our Surface Treatment products are manufactured at our three sites in Brazil and our sites in Argentina.

Europe

In Europe, we have more than 20 sites in over 20 countries.

Asia

Paint manufacturing has its roots in Asia, where we have sites in ten different countries.

Australia/New Zealand

In Australia and New Zealand, we have one site for automotive refinish coatings and one for surface treatment products in each country.
