BASF enters power agreements for clean energy supply of more than 20 BASF sites across the United States

BASF is committed to renewable energy solutions to power its sites across the United States and has entered into virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) for wind and solar power totaling 250 megawatts (MW). They are designed to offset the carbon-intensive grid-supplied electricity being used at more than 20 of BASF’s manufacturing sites in several states across the country, from Texas to Michigan.

The Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm, which is currently under construction, has successfully generated its first electricity. While still in their testing phase, the first operating turbines are already producing electricity, which is transferred to shore via an offshore transformation station and fed into the Dutch grid.

BASF to sell 25.2% of the offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid to Allianz

Allianz Capital Partners, on behalf of Allianz Insurance Companies (Allianz), and BASF have agreed on the purchase of 25.2% of the windfarm Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) by Allianz. This follows a transaction between Vattenfall and BASF under which BASF acquired 49.5% of HKZ from Vattenfall on September 1, 2021.

Joint News Release - ENGIE and BASF sign power purchase agreement for renewable energy in Europe

ENGIE and BASF have signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for renewable energy in Europe. Under the PPA, effective as of January 1, 2022, ENGIE will provide BASF with up to 20.7 terawatt hours of renewable electricity in total throughout the term of the agreement.

BASF bundles renewable energy activities in new subsidiary BASF Renewable Energy GmbH

BASF is bundling its activities in renewable energies under the umbrella of BASF Renewable Energy GmbH as of January 1, 2022. The wholly owned subsidiary’s business activities will focus on supplying the BASF Group in Europe with electricity from renewable energies, electricity trading activities in Europe and global consulting for BASF and its Group companies in the field of renewable energies. The company is based in Ludwigshafen and will be managed by Horatio Evers, who was previously responsible for the development of renewable energies at BASF SE.
