  • Greenville site takes a leading role in supporting STEM2D education in the community
  • An employer of choice, BASF serves as an economic driver for the Greenville community
  • Greenville team recognized for partnership and commitment to cultivating a vibrant community in Darke County

GREENVILLE, OH, April 25, 2025 – The BASF Coatings site in Greenville, Ohio has been named the 2025 Business of the Year by the Darke County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC). The Greenville site was recognized for consistently contributing to the community as an employer of choice, long-term business partner, and supporter of various social and education efforts throughout Darke County, Ohio. Of special note is the Greenville site’s support of educational outreach for students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing, and Design (STEM2D).

Efforts by the Greenville team to sponsor and lead initiatives to engage students, especially female students, and ignite interest in STEM2D career fields provide long-term benefits in creating an economically vibrant community. Research shows female students’ interest level in technical fields significantly declines in middle school. In partnership with the Darke County Economic Development Office, the BASF Coatings Greenville team is working to inspire the next generation of women leaders in the community.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Darke County Community Improvement Corporation with the Business of the Year award,” said Lindsay Narvaez, BASF Greenville Site Director. “This community is where many people from the Greenville site work and live. Creating a robust community starts with employing local talent today while also participating in skills development for future employees and community leaders. We’re excited to support those efforts.”

The annual award was established by the CIC in 2011 to recognize the efforts of local businesses to foster partnerships and a culture of excellence in the community.

“BASF has long been a cornerstone of the manufacturing community in Greenville and Darke County,” said Mike Bowers, Director of Darke County Economic Development. “The company has been investing greatly in the local facility to maintain its profile of being one of the best facilities to work at in the county. BASF is also an investor in the Partnering for Progress initiative which is the mechanism that funds Darke County Economic Development. The company has been a great supporter of the programming from my office. They have been the title sponsor for STEM2D conference we hold annually. Overall, BASF and its leadership have always been willing to come alongside our office with anything we have asked of them.”

The BASF Greenville site produces automotive coatings for global automobile manufacturers and for the automotive refinishing industry. The facility employs nearly 150 people and has been in the community for more than 50 years.
