BASF acquired Equateq Ltd. and its site in Callanish in 2012. BASF Pharma (Callanish) Limited, which employs around 80 people, is now part of the Pharma Ingredients & Services unit of BASF’s Nutrition & Health division.

At our dedicated cGMP facility in the Western Isles of Scotland, we can purify and enrich all omega-3 and omega-6 long chain fatty acids up to exceptional concentration levels for pharmaceutical and nutritional applications.

£1.8m Warehouse Officially Opened

A new consumables warehouse at BASF Pharma (Callanish) Ltd, Isle of Lewis, was officially opened on 26 September 2023.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) invested £1.8m to create a new warehouse at BASF Pharma (Callanish) Ltd in Breasclete to enable the site to grow its operations. The site is BASF's largest production facility in the UK.

The 550m2 facility was built by Lewis Builders at the site in Breasclete which is owned by HIE. The new warehouse will provide much needed storage capacity to support the company’s growth development plans.
