COP26 Voices

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time.  During the UN Climate Change Conference 2021, COP26, we spoke to some of our BASF colleagues about their work and their own sustainability thoughts.

My journey so far
I started working for BASF over 25 years ago in a customer services role in our Fine Chemicals business. This was a great foundation, helping my understanding of the business and the company which led to me taking on Global Key Account Manager and Business Manager roles within the Industrial Chemicals area.  Five years ago I moved to BTC, BASF’s in-house distributor, which gave me a fantastic insight into a wide variety of customers within the Coatings, Plastics, Construction, Fuel and Lubricants industries. 

My sustainability commitment
When I heard about the Carbon Literacy programme I was keen to sign up. This brilliant initiative offered to employees by BASF in partnership with The Carbon Literacy Trust, really made me think about my own carbon footprint. I have since committed to make better, more-informed decisions that can protect our environment and have made many changes to the way that I live. It doesn’t have to be complicated, turn the heating down a couple of degrees, change to LED lighting, insulate your home…if we all do just some of these things, we will make a difference, the collective impact could be significant.  If you haven’t already done so, I would really encourage you to get in touch with Tony and take part in the Carbon Literacy Training. We can’t leave the protection of our planet to others, we all have to take responsibility and action.

My commitment to my customers
I feel privileged to have a role where I offer thousands of BASF products and solutions to our customers. And I’m proud to work for a company that has so many products in its broad portfolio that offer a sustainable advantage.  In my role, I ensure that I lead and guide the team to help our customers understand what we can offer in terms of sustainable solutions. This is a real enabler for total business growth and I’m optimistic that combined with the company’s net zero commitment we are in a strong position to support our customers achieve their own sustainability goals.
