BASF introduces Fourtiva™ Fluidized Catalytic Cracking catalyst to increase high octane gasoline blending feedstock

BASF announced today the commercial launch of Fourtiva™, a new Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst for gasoil to mild resid feedstock. Fourtiva incorporates BASF’s newest Advanced Innovative Matrix (AIM) and the Multiple Frameworks Topology (MFT) technologies to achieve an optimized catalyst design to maximize butylene yields and selectivity over propylene while improving naphtha octane, LPG olefinicity and minimizing coke and dry gas. This helps refiners to produce more valuable products, increase profitability and reduce the carbon footprint of the FCC unit.

BASF switches their portfolio to bio-based Ethyl Acrylate (EA)

Ludwigshafen, Germany – BASF gives a clear sign towards biotransformation of their (Meth)Acrylate portfolio and switches their production to bio-based Ethyl Acrylate (EA) starting Q4 2024. With a 14C-traceable bio content of 40% according to DIN EN 16640 and a low Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), bio-based EA from BASF helps customers worldwide to reach their sustainability goals. The product offers a PCF reduction of ~30% compared to fossil-based EA. Additionally to regular bio-based EA, BASF also offers bio-based Ethyl Acrylate BMB ISCC Plus. Here, the remaining carbon content originated from fossil based acrylic acid is ISCC PLUS certified, and by applying BASF’s biomass balance (BMB) approach, this variant offers a further reduced product carbon footprint.

EBITDA before special items at level of prior-year quarter; outlook 2024 unchanged

We saw a continuation of the dynamics of the first quarter, marked by positive volume momentum across most of our businesses. There was still pressure on prices,” said Dr. Markus Kamieth, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, when presenting the figures for the second quarter of 2024 together with Chief Financial Officer Dr. Dirk Elvermann.
