The Würzburg site is a competence center for basecoats in the worldwide network of BASF's Coatings division.

Color lends a car individuality and accentuates its design. For nearly 50 years, we have manufactured basecoats in Würzburg in a wide range of colors for the automotive industry. Our years of experience, the quality and sustainability of our products and the capacity to implement customer-specific requests have made us the leader in our field.

The most important success factor for us in Würzburg is customer focus. Thanks to our high flexibility, especially in production, and the broad experience of our employees, we are able to realize customized solutions in high quality and in time. We managed to convert the entire production to waterborne solutions, making a significant contribution to environmental protection. This is a great success for our team!

Over 50 million vehicles currently sport BASF waterborne basecoats "Made in Würzburg." In Würzburg, we also manufacture solventborne basecoats for the automotive industry.

Sustainability

We already developed the waterborne basecoat technology in Würzburg back in the mid-1980s. Instead of using solvents, we thin our products with water. Our waterborne basecoats stand out because they are sustainable without compromising quality or application properties.
