Creating a great place to work

At BASF Australia and New Zealand, we aim to create a great place to work and offer our employees a commitment to diversity and inclusion and a dedication to safety, health and environment. Through our community partnerships, we also aim to improve the quality of life in the corresponding regional surroundings of our sites for everybody – neighbours, employees and their families.

Community engagement
We're proud to give back to the communities we operate in through the following programs and partnerships:

BASF Kids' Lab
BASF runs an annual Kids’ Lab program to encourage an interest in science and chemistry from an early age by conducting fun, hands-on experiments. The program is conducted in partnership with leading universities across Australia and New Zealand.
Science Gallery
BASF is proud to sponsor the Science Gallery Melbourne's mediator program, a new thought provoking art-meets-science exhibition set to inspire the next generation of innovators.
The Smith Family
BASF is a community partner of The Smith Family, a children's charity helping Australian children from disadvantaged  backgrounds to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. Through this partnership, BASF has donated more than $600,000 since 2007.
The scholarship for Australian-German student exchange
To foster the exchange between Australia and Germany, BASF supports the Scholarship for Australian-German Student Exchange. Each year, the society awards scholarships to Australian students to travel to Germany during their summer holidays.
Corporate Volunteering
We support our employees giving back to the community through a range of corporate volunteering opportunities with our community partners.

We also support our people with:

Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group
BASF acknowledges First Nation people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate. Through the implementation of our RAP, we look forward to the opportunity to learn more about First Nations’ history as well as contribute to reconciliation with First Nations people.
Learning and development
We believe in fostering an environment that supports life-long learning. We are committed to developing our people so they continually learn new skills and offer a range of programs to support this.
Diversity + Inclusion
At BASF, we value the differences in our workforce as they are key to the success of our business. Our staff led Diversity+Inclusion council focus on fostering D+I in how we bring people into the organisation, how we develop people through the organisation and how we share knowledge throughout.

Flexible working arrangements
We offer flexible working arrangements to assist employees to balance work and life responsibilities. Options include flexible start/finish times, changed patterns of work and change from primary working location.
Social events
We believe work should be more than just...work. We’re committed to making our workplace fun, which is why our social committee leads events and networking opportunities throughout the year.
