BASF Korea continues to spark interest in chemistry with its Kids’ Lab program
- To host fun chemistry experiments for future scientists in Korea
- Program to be held at the Kids’ Lab experience hall, Daejeon Science Festival for four days from October 20 to 23
October 20, 2022 – BASF Korea will join the 2022 Daejeon Science Festival to be held at the Daejeon Convention Center in Daejeon City, Korea for four days from October 20, and host its popular Kids’ Lab program.
This year's BASF Kids’ Lab will be organized in the form of a chemistry class where children visiting the venue can experience basic chemical principles in a fun and easy way. The experiments include making beaded ice cream, a natural indicator with cabbage, a plastic keychain, and experiencing “Disappearing Water: Magic Slushy.”
Children can also experience BASF Virtual Kids' Lab, which was developed to support science education for kids without personal contact amid the pandemic. Kids will be given souvenirs if they complete a virtual experiment mission.
“I hope that children who have been unable to experience science experiments due to COVID-19 over the past few years, will visit the venue and enjoy the experiments first-hand,” said Dr. David Im, Representative Director of BASF Korea. “We strive to continue ignite interest in chemistry among kids in Korea, which we have been doing for the last 20 years.”
BASF Kids’ Lab was launched in Germany in 1997, and for about 20 years, BASF Korea has been organizing chemistry experiment classes for Korean children in Seoul, Yeosu, Ulsan, Daejeon, Gunsan, and other areas across the country. In order to continue supporting science education without personal contact during the pandemic, the company has donated experimental kits to the socially marginalized children in schools for the disabled in lesser privileged areas.
