BASF’s Monomers division produces ISCC PLUS-certified bio-mass balanced and Ccycled® Polyamide 6 in Asia-Pacific

BASF’s Monomers Division announced that its Polyamide 6 (PA6) plant in Shanghai has been awarded the ISCC PLUS certification. The PA6 plant is now ready to supply both biomass balanced and Ccycled® PA6 & PA6/6.6 copolymer.
For Ultramid® BMB CertTM PA6, bio-circular feedstock instead of fossil feedstock is used in the very first steps of chemical production. The bio-circular feedstock is then allocated to the product using the certified method, resulting in a reduced product carbon footprint (PCF). Ultramid® Ccycled® PA6 is a mass-balanced PA6 that supports the use of alternative raw materials derived from pyrolysis oil chemically recycled from end-of-life tires and mixed plastic waste. BASF incorporates this type of pyrolysis oil into the production process from the beginning, effectively replacing fossil resources otherwise needed for the production.

With the plant's recent ISCC PLUS certification, BASF’s Monomers Division Asia Pacific now offers certified circular or lower PCF product alternatives across all product chains, ranging from MDI/TDI to Polyamides 6/6.6. This internationally recognized certification demonstrates the division’s consistent commitment to enabling its customers’ green transformation by offering circular or low PCF product alternatives.
