The heart of BASF in Ludwigshafen

BASF employs a workforce of over 39,000 at its head office in Ludwigshafen (on the Rhine) in southwestern Germany. This research and production site offers many entry levels, development and career options. 1,000 young people are afforded the opportunity of qualified training at BASF every year and, what's more, for over 40 different job profiles.

At BASF, permanent employees can select training from options such as seminars, e-learning, and on-the-job programs, or receive further training directly at the BASF learning center in Ludwigshafen. The Employee Center for Work-Life Management also provides different programs. These include social counseling, childcare, promotion of sport and health, and reconciliation between a career and family life.

Die neue Acetylen-Anlage  am Verbundstandort Ludwigshafen kann jährlich 90.000 Tonnen der vielseitigen Chemikalie produzieren. Etwa 20 Betriebe am Standort Ludwigshafen nutzen Acetylen als vielseitig einsetzbaren chemischen Baustein und Ausgangsstoff für viele Produkte des täglichen Lebens. Die Einbindung der Anlage in das Verbundkonzept der BASF bietet die Vorteile einer effizienten Ressourcennutzung, exzellenter Produktionssynergien und kurzer Lieferwege.

The new acetylene plant at the Ludwigshafen Verbund site has an annual capacity of 90,000 metric tons. Around 20 plants at the Ludwigshafen site use acetylene as a chemical building block and starting material for manufacturing many everyday products, including pharmaceuticals, plastics, solvents, electronic chemicals and highly elastic textile fibers. The integration of the plant into BASF's Verbund system offers advantages such as efficient use of resources, excellent production synergies and short supply routes.
