BASF strengthens its digitalization capabilities in China with its Digital Hub in Nanjing

BASF’s Digital Hub China celebrates its two-year anniversary and announces to accelerate the incubation of digital talents in China. With this, BASF further enhances its capabilities in a wide spectrum of digital areas such as SAP & planning solutions, cyber security, artificial intelligence and data science, IoT as well as cloud and commerce solutions in China’s unique digital ecosystem.

We are delivering and supporting end-to-end supply chain excellence through technical and process expertise, working closely with the Operating Divisions (ODs) to facilitate and optimize planning processes and solutions with focus on supply chain planning landscape in China. The team supports Global New Planning Landscape project and ODs in translation of business requirements into system solutions, in compliance with BASF standards and Chinese regulations. From a content perspective, this includes:

Supply Chain Planning process and system design as well as the interfacing processes
Close alignment with the relevant ODs regional and global supply chain planning initiatives

The Cyber Security team helps to secure digital business in China, by protecting new business models which don’t have to follow BASF Global standards but are required to adapt the speed-to-market.

The Security Architecture Team looks into Chinese Digital Solutions, designs security architectures to operate them in a secure manner, thereby respecting the China Security Law and related laws, like DSL or PIPL. Furthermore the Cyber Security team evaluates their security (e.g. via risk assessments and pen-tests) and makes recommendations to the business how to improve security and fix potential flaws.

As the likelihood of attack is expected to be higher for China we establish a strong Cyber Security Defense Team with a Forensics capability and a Security Audit & Remediation Team that also conducts Vulnerablity Assessments for the business.

The mission of regional solutions team is to deliver digital solutions in the region for the region. We consult, design, deliver and operate business specific applications.

Our team is responsible for covering the complete application lifecycle management (consult, plan, build and run).

We offer services including Business Requirement Analysis, Application Development, System Design & Deployment, Process Optimization, System Security Assessment, Project Management etc. to our business.

The team partners with best-in-class global technology companies to deliver cutting-edge data solutions, as well as with innovative start-ups, allowing us to offer a complete portfolio from standard and global solutions to customized solutions.

The AI Solutions Team is experiencing growing demand from the region for data-driven decision making and AI solutions for business teams. This includes interest in sales/customer interaction data analytics, product pricing, Covid-19 crisis and recovery support for product and supply chain management, network optimization, value chain optimization, data analytics for logistics visibility and for digital commerce, data analytics for market data, and customizing global solutions for users in China.

Part of BASF’s global interdisciplinary team, AI Solutions Team works on progressive solutions with a blend of analytical, information technology and business capabilities. The team delivers innovative solutions which support decision making in business and operations across all BASF functions and businesses, for example Planning and Controlling, Marketing and Sales, Production, Supply Chain Management and Procurement.
